The followers of Christ during this age were supposed to take a purse and script, and if they didn't have a sword, to get a sword. The marching orders are quite different for the church than those for the ministry to Israel. Christians even have a right to self-defense in appropriate situations. The servants of Christ were being prepared for a different war in a different world. The gospel is to go out to the world.
